13.04.76 Penn State, PA, intro to ´It´s My Life´
´´ I grew up in this small town, was about 10,000 people, I guess....I
lived in this two-family house on this main highway...and....every night my
Pop used to lock up the frontdoor so that me and my sister used to have to come
in around the back....´round through the kitchen...and for as long as
I can remember (?) my Pop used to sit in the kitchen every night with all the
lights out, just smoke cigarettes, drink some beer, my mom used to sit in the
frontroom with just the TV on, watch TV all night....and so it wasn´t
too bad if you came in, came in around 10 o´clock , it wasn´t, wasn´t
ever so bad....if you came in past midnight....after my Pop´d been sitting
there for a while....(?) he´d always wanna stop me and make me sit down,
sit down at the kitchen table in the dark....talk to him, talk to him about
stuff....pretty soon he´d start asking me what I was doing in school,
how I was getting along....then he´d be asking me where I was getting
all my money....who I was out with, where I´d been all night.... pretty
soon we´d be screaming at each other....my mother´d be running in
from the frontroom trying to keep us from fighting with each other....and I´d
be running, I´d be running out the backdoor, telling him how it was my
life, I could do what I wanted to do.....”
