22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´Better Days´
´´That was the unplugged part of the show, let´s bring on
the band....alright, let´s rock it....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´Local Hero´ (following ´Better
Days´)
´´Yeah, thank you, thank you....I know we lied, we lied, right....this
is, uh....oh man....this is the world-famous naked lady guitar....out of a pawn
shop in New York City....next song is a true story, a true story, it´s
kind of sad though (?)....I was passing through the town I grew up in and I
turned into....looked into J.J.Newberry´s window and I saw a picture of
myself, uh, an artist´s interpretation of myself on a nice, big piece
of black velvet....and uh....the worst part was on one side Bruce Lee looked
like he was about to kick me in the head there, on the other side there was
a dog that wasn´t even looking my way, man (?) and the worst thing that
happened was I wanted one, you know, so I sent Patti in, you see (chuckles)
underneath was a big sign, said ´Sale 19.99´....in my own hometown,
it said ´19.99´, so I (?) in and I hang it up in my house, you know,
and, uh, figured, you know, people´re gonna come in, everybody´s
gonna get a big laugh out of it....one by one my friends came in and nobody
laughed....that´s why it´s a sad story, you see (chuckles) so I
had to stand (?) ´Yes, yes, it´s a joke´ and, you know....but
there it hangs, alright (chuckles) let me, let me hear the count, Zak ....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´Atlantic City´
´´I think the last time I played a crowd this size was Clarence´s
club (chuckles)....we´re missing a bar, they should´ve brought the
bar in, that was the only....next time (chuckles)...´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´Book of Dreams´ (following
´Darkness on the Edge of Town´).
´´(a woman yells ´Happy birthday !´) Yeah, thanks for
reminding me....my arthritis is kicking up tonight so (chuckles)....alright,
this is a song (?) ´Darkness on the Edge of Town´, I guess (?) that
was a song I felt like I was fighting for another chance to....I don´t
know, say something I wanted to say and, uh....this song, this is a song about
second chances....and how sweet they can be....so, alright (people applaud)
wait, wait till you hear it first, I don´t like any clapping in front,
I feel like I owe something so....I like the clapping at the end or none at
all....here we go, anyway....I´ll do this for Pats tonight....well, I´m
standing in the backyard, oh, one second....you can do this when you´re
on tv ´cause they just cut all that shit out, you know, I can´t
do that (?) so I´m gonna do it now (chuckles) that´s good....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´If I Should Fall Behind´
´´Thank you....Zak Alford on the drums, Shane Fontayne on the guitar...yeah....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, after ´If I Should Fall Behind´
´´Thank you....don´t forget to tip your bartenders....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, after ´Man´s Job´
´´Let´s hear it for the women....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´Growin´Up´
´´A song for the man who just yelled out, give me the acoustic guitar...just
me and the Professor on this one....way back to our youths....I was in this
hairdressing salon, this is true, I used to live on a third-floor apartment
(?) was a drugstore, then there was this, uh, it was an abandoned hairdressing
salon actually, and somebody had left the place and for some reason left all,
like, the, those old-fashioned, big 50´s driers and, and everything still
in the place, and had one of those old-time headmassagers, like there´s
three suction cups that sit on your head and, like, you know, make your whole
face (?) and it was worse ´cause I lived on the third floor and I used
to have to walk through it every night, when I was a kid, I didn´t like,
uh, I never liked the, the dark, you know, I always used to sleep with the light
on....I used to cry if my, you know, Dad used to turn out the light so I used
to, uh (some people go ´Aaw´) hey....this is, uh, this is the hard,
the hard, hard cold truth here (chuckles) but uh....so I used to have to walk
through this abandoned hairdressing salon every night, from one end to the other....really
scary, it was....anyway, I wrote this song....I, I don´t know why I wrote,
I made that whole story up....(chuckles) the whole thing, there wasn´t
a word of truth in any of it (chuckles) alright, where were we ?....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´Human Touch´
´´Patti, come on up....mi amore (?)....(Patti gives Bruce a kiss
on the cheek) anything for applause, you know, she always does that....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´Thunder Road´
´´Alright, Roy....well....did they fly you guys from all over the
States, is that, that the story then ?....anybody from the great state of New
Jersey out there ? (cheers) oh, good Lord !.... alright, this is for you then
now (chuckles) this is for you....´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, middle of ´Light of Day´
´´Been driving 100 miles, 200 miles, 300 miles, the train kept on
a-rolling, going 400 miles, 500 miles, 600 miles, the train keeps on a-rolling,
going 700 miles, 800 miles, 900 miles, 1000 miles, 2000 miles, 3000 miles....I
came a long, long way tonight....all the way to Hollywood, California via Sweden,
via Paris, via Italia, via, France, via, via London, England, via the great
state of New Jersey and halfway across the United States....I wanna thank you
all for inviting me into your livingroom tonight....I know there´s millions
of you out there....I know you´re downhearted....I know you´re disenchanted....I
know you´re disillusioned....I know there´s 57 channels and nothing
on....there´s just one thing I wanna know tonight....there´s just
one thing I wanna know....but first I want you to get up off your couch, I want
you to put the popcorn down, I want you to come over to the tv-set, I want you
to turn it up real loud, I want you to take off all your clothes now....and
what I wanna know is is there anybody alive out there ? (cheers)...´´
22.09.92 Los Angeles, CA, intro to ´Glory Days´
´´Alright...now, wherever I go, just follow me....
(....) You´re looking good there, men, you men are looking good....you´re
looking good.... come on down, everybody....alright, are you ready to follow
me ?....let´s go (Bruce and the backup singers walk through the crowd
and a group of people follows them onto the stage) ....alright...we´re
going home now....see everybody out there in TV-land....get up off your seats...finally
peace and quiet....let´s go home (walks off the stage to the stagedoor).....´´
