I came to a crossroads.....and at the crossroad was another sign that said ‘E’....and
it was a signifying moment....and I thought ‘Which way to go ?....help,
tell me the way to go’ and then I looked down.....at the crossroads....and
there was a man sitting there.....an educated man.....and a (?) man......and
he was playing the piano .....yeah (Roy plays).....Professor Roy Bittan.....the
avenue of wisdom.... and sexual perversity....and then I walked on.....and I
saw another man and I said ‘I know you’, he said.....say it, Steve,
do it now (Steve plays ‘Soul Man’).... Stevie Van Zandt on the guitar.....and
then I walked on....really low...come on Garry (Garry plays) .....bassman, Mr.Garry

on the drums....international television star....then I walked on.....and there
was a man that left his job at the carwash, send his mama a goodbye note.....guitar
man, play it Nils (Nils plays)..... Nils Lofgren on the guitar....and then I
walked on and I came to a city by the sea..... and in that city by the sea I
could feel a spirit moving.....I said (?) a spirit moving..... I couldn’t
see him but I could hear him.......come on Dan (Danny plays)....Phantom Dan
Federici on the organ.....and then I walked on like I was in a dream......and
in that dream I swear I was in Ireland and I thought I saw my mama .....Freud,
where are you, baby, when I need you ?.....and then I walked on.....and I was
feeling lonely... I was feeling lonely in my heart.....and I thought to myself....brunettes
are fine, blondes are fun but when it comes to getting a dirty job done, I need
a (crowd : ‘Red headed woman’) oh, that’s right, I need a
(crowd : ‘Red headed woman’) oh, I tell I need a (crowd : ‘Red

25.05.99 Dublin, Ireland, middle of ‘Light of Day’
‘‘Well, I’m glad to be here in your lovely city tonight….what
I wanna know’s any O’Farrells out there ?....are there any McNicholases
out there ?....are there any O’Hagens out there ?.... ‘cause if
you are, you’re my relatives.... (?) on my daddy’s side.....but
I’m not here tonight.....to visit relatives....to see the sights of....your
beautiful city....or kiss up to the audience.....by telling ‘em about
my linkeage....I’m not here tonight to drink....that fine Guinness I know
that´s waiting for me down at the bar somewhere.....or maybe I am here
tonight for that little bit....but that’s not all I’m here tonight
for….we’re here tonight with a purpose….that´s right,
we´ve come to bring a message….and it´s been a long journey
and we´ve come a long way to deliver this message for you….(goes
through the amount of miles and the towns he’s been to) Dublin and back…..but
everywhere I’ve gone, I’ve found people that are lost….I´ve
seen people filled with confusion….I´ve seen people lost in the
wilderness….I´ve seen people downhearted, disspirited, dispossessed,
analyzed, downsized, stigmatised, factionalised, fractionalised, retropsychedelicized
and I´m here tonight to let you know that if your soul has bad credit,
it’s good here, and I want you to know that if your heart is running on
empty, then pull on up to the pumps, we’re selling high-test supreme,
if your spirit’s bankrupt, we’re here to lift that debt up off you
just a little bit and help set you free, I want to, I want to, I want to re-educate
you, I want to regenerate you, I want to reconfiscate you, rededicate you, I
want to, I want to reliberate you, I want to, I want to, I want to take you
to….high ground….holler if you hear me (cheers)….holler if
you hear me (cheers)….holler if you hear me (cheers) I want to fill you
with the power, the promise, the power, the promise, the power, the promise,
the power, the promise, the power, the promise, the power, the promise, the
majesty, the mystery….the ministry of rock and roll !….now, I know
you got your worries, you’re worried about the Y2K-problem, my stocks
up, my bonds are down, mortality is rearing its ugly head, I know you know the
Good Book says ‘Louie, Louie’, Chapter 1, Verse 1, ‘Louie-Louie,
oh-oh, we’ve all got to go’ but I can’t, I can’t, I
can´t, I cannot, I cannot, I cannot promise you life everlasting but I
can promise you life….right now !…..and all you´ve got to
do is say ‘I’….”

after we started and to find, uh....this kind of a reception, we appreciate
all the years of support of our music....and....these are kind of special series
of concerts for us, sort of a rebirth, rededication of our band....our commitment
to serve you and uh.....so in that spirit we wanna leave you with a new song
called ‘Land of Hope and Dreams’.....”
