28.02.00 State College, PA, intro to ‘Mansion on the Hill’
‘‘Good evening, State College….glad to be here in Happy Valley….I’m
feeling pretty happy, alright (chuckles)….”

28.02.00 State College, PA, middle of ‘Tenth Avenue Freeze Out’
(sings ‘It’s Alright’ and ‘Take Me to the River’)
That’s right.....that’s where I wanna go....I wanna go to the river....that
river of life....I wanna find that river of love ….that river of hope....and
of sexual healing….I wanna find that river where I can go and transform
myself…..that river of sanctification….but I´ve found out
that you can’t get there by yourself....you can try, everybody tries….when
you´re young, you run and you hide and you think you can get there, to
those good things, all by yourself….but in the end you find out that you
can’t get there by yourself and so I stood there one night….standing
before a dark grove of trees, at the end of my rope ….and I couldn’t
find my way through those trees even though I knew that the river of life was
waiting on the other side…..the river of love and cold beer at a reasonable
price….and on the other side of those trees was the rockingest little
band in the
world !….so I’d like to introduce tonight….the dean of the
university of musical perversity, Professor Roy Bittan ....standing with me
at the riverside….the Secretary of faith and friendship and all that is
righteous on E Street and the hottest tv-star in the nation, star of the ‘Sopranos’,
Steven Van Zandt….the foundation of the E Street nation, Mr.Garry W.Tallent….the
man that brings the mighty beat with him, star of Late Night Television, Mighty
Max Weinberg....the Secretary of heart and spirit, the mighty Nils Lofgren on
the guitar....Minister of mystery and all things unfathomable on E Street, Brother
Dan Federici on the organ....and now, brunettes are fine and blondes are fun
but when it comes to getting a dirty job done, it takes a (crowd : ‘Red
headed woman’) got to find my baby (crowd : ‘Red headed woman’)
yes, I said I’m looking for my (crowd : ‘Red headed woman’)
now I’m searching for a (crowd : ‘Red headed woman’) I said
I’ve got to find my (crowd : ‘Red headed woman’) oh yeah,
I’m looking for a (crowd: ‘Red headed woman’) come on, sugar
(Patti sings a bit of ‘Rumble Doll’)…First Lady of love, Miss
Patti Scialfa ….and last but not least….last but not least….the
Minister of soul and brotherhood….do I have to say his name ? ....do I
have to say his name ?….what do I say ?….come on….come on….come
on…. come on….come on….come on….come on….come
on…..little louder….little louder ….come on….”
28.02.00 State College, PA, intro to ‘The Ghost of Tom Joad’
‘‘Thank you….thanks, gonna do this tonight for, got some friends
here from the Foodbank of….of the State College area, they´ve been,
uh….working here in…. working here in your community since 1982,
trying to help the struggling citizens of the State College area, they´ll
be there at Gate B tonight, when you go out, you can check ‘em out, they
could use a little help….they deserve your time and your support, this
is for the Foodbank of the State College area, all the folks (?)….Gate
B, Gate B (?)….”
28.02.00 State College, PA, middle of ‘Light of Day’
´´Happy Valley !…PA, baby !….Happy Valley !….but
everywhere I´ve gone, I´ve seen people lost in confusion....lost
in the wilderness.…lost in bitterness….lost in all the Nittany Lions’
memorabilia….lost in loneliness but tonight we’re here on a search-and-rescue
mission, if you´ve been downhearted, disspirited, disgusted, dispossessed,
downsized, analysed, stigmatised, fractionalised, Pokemonized…if your
soul got bad credit, it’s good here, if your heart’s running on
empty, gonna fill it up, if your spirit’s bankrupt, gonna lift that debt
up off you, I’m here to re-educate you, to resuscitate you, to regenerate
you, to reindoctrinate you, to reconfiscate you, to resexualate you, to rededicate
you, to reliberate you with the power and the promise, the majesty, the mystery,
with the ministry of rock and roll....with the power and the glory, with the
power and the glory, with the power and the glory, with ministry of rock and
roll !....now, unlike my competitors, I shall not, I will not, I cannot, I shall
not promise you life everlasting….but I can promise you life right now!....and
all you gotta do is raise your hands and say ´I´....”
28.02.00 State College, PA, intro to ‘Ramrod’
‘‘Nice to be at State College….a town dedicated to (?), how
many college graduates we got on stage, boys ? (according to ‘Backstreets’
magazine, only Patti raises her hand)…thank God for rock’n’roll,
ladies and gentlemen….are you ready to rumble ? ….”
