´´Thanks....the, uh....the actual words to that last verse should´ve gone ´I ain´t gonna fuck it up too bad this time´ (chuckles) would be the most honest expression, right (chuckles) but uh, parents and kids, yeah, this is a song about a young boy loses his mom and, uh....feels like he finds her spirit in this horse that comes out of the mountains at night, this is called ´Silver Palomino´....´´

´´Yeah....(?) people used to ask me why, when I, in the first part of my career I didn´t write many love songs, I´ve sort of been telling the audience every night that it was because when I was young my father told me that all love songs were, uh, a government conspiracy and, uh, they were meant to get you married and, and have babies and work hard and pay taxes and suffer (chuckles) so, uh, that stuck in my mind for quite a, for about, uh, oh, 37 years exactly (chuckles) but my mother was very romantic and, uh, she would have on all the love songs in the morning and, uh, I guess that´s what made....their love go ´round (chuckles) but, so I hid, when I first wrote love songs, I didn´t know I was writing them (chuckles) that´s ´cause I hid them, this was one of ´em (chuckles)....´´

´´Thanks....this is a song, I, uh, I was raised Catholic and so Jesus is my homeboy from now until then but, uh....I got a bunch of little pagan babies at home (chuckles) this was a song I wrote, I wrote a lot of songs about mothers and sons, I was interested in the idea of Jesus as just somebody´s boy and, uh, how our children have their own destiny and we´re along for the ride....this is ´Jesus Was an Only Son´....
(....) At His mother´s feet....well, the first thing that shocks you....when your kids come along is....how suddenly in your stomach you realise there´s nothing you wouldn´t do to keep them safe....and from harm....and that feeling is a life sentence....

Shall pierce your dreams this night....I always figured that....what gives our choices meaning are the things that we sacrifice for them, the parts of life that we give up....and I always thought that Jesus had to be thinking....that there was a nice little bar in Galilee he could´ve managed....Mary Magdalene could tend bar, they could´ve had some kids....and ....watch the sun fall on their faces.....and feel the air in their lungs....and get to see the next day....and the next day....and the next day....and the next day....and the next day....´´

´´Alright....thank you, my friends, thank you....yeah (some woman yells and Bruce replies something in Italian)....alright, ´Stay hard, stay hungry, stay alive,´ that´s hard to do (chuckles) that´s very hard to do, particularly since we carry the seeds of our destruction, uh, kind of God´s joke, with this hand we build, with this hand we burn and I don´t know if that´s the way that God planned it but that´s the way He let it be....this is ´The Hitter´....´´

´´Thank you....(?) I was....I was, uh, slightly distracted there during that song, I hear, I heard what I, I, I usually call it ´The Italian Creep´ myself but, uh (chuckles) it´s when the seats start rattling and, and, and, and there´s, there´s a sense of large masses of people tiptoeing around the room trying to (chuckles) trying to (?)(chuckles) but uh, well, what can I say? I´ve been (some woman yells ´´Thank you, Bruce´´) oh, thank you also....been, uh....been in the, uh, in, in Europe for a month and, uh, all I can tell you is I know some folks here from all over and I wanna say thanks, I had a great time and uh....and, uh, the quietest, the quietest stagerushing people I´ve ever seen (?)....when I go back to the States and I say ´Yeah, you know, I played ´The Hitter´ (?)´ they´re, they´re just not gonna believe that (chuckles) they´re just not gonna believe it....but, uh, I wanna thank all of you for making me feel at home over here and, uh....for your dedication....and, uh, and support and a lot of, some of you folks´ve been following me around for most of the month and uh....and, uh, I wish, I wish you´d just stop that (chuckles) I have, uh, I have, uh, my stalkers (chuckles) but they´re pretty good-natured (chuckles) so to my....German hosts I say ´Danke well´ and uh (chuckles)....we had a good time here in Dusseldorf and Munich and Frankfurt and Hamburg, yes, yes....very nice, very nice so, uh, I want to, uh, in the set what I usually do, this is a song called ´Matamoros Banks´ and, uh....in the States we have a lot of folks who....work, fight very hard to get across the southern border and every, every year hundreds of them don´t make it, they don´t make it through the deserts and through our mountains and across our rivers, this is for them, this is called ´Matamoros Banks´....´´
