Brother....”
31.08.03 East Rutherford, NJ, middle of ´Mary´s Place´
´´Are you ready ?….are you ready ?….are you ready….are
you ready….are you ready for that end-of-the-summer, last night in New
Jersey house party ? (cheers) oh, are you ready now ?....to have a house party,
three conditions got to be met....one, the music has got to be raucous now....two,
you gotta get your ass out of your seat....and moving in the clockwise direction
(chuckles)....three, you got to have half a million crazy New Jerseyans....(?)
necessary....and you got to have the greatest little houseband in all the land
at your service ....I want to introduce to you on this side of the stage, the
pathological piano pounder, Professor Roy Bittan….on the violin and vocals,
Sister Soozie Tyrell....on the guitar, the one and only, Little Steven....on
the bass guitar, Mr.Garry W.Tallent….on the drums, the man that bring
the power hour after hour night after night, star of ´Late Night (crowd
: ´Television´) Mighty Max Weinberg....on the guitar, Brother Nils
Lofgren....on the organ, Phantom Dan Federici.....say a few words (?)(Steve:
´Well, baby´)(chuckles)....on this side of the stage, the First
Lady of love, on guitar and vocals, Miss Patti Scialfa….and last but not
least....Minister of soul, Secretary of the brotherhood, you wish you could
be like him, ladies and gentlemen, but I´m sorry you can´t because
under the sun there´s only one Clarence Big Man Clemons....I want you
to put your hands together for the heartstopping, pants-dropping, houserocking,
earth-shaking, booty-quaking, Viagra-taking, lovemaking, death-defying, sexifying,
legendary E Street Band.....did I mention ´sexifying´ ?….that´s
right…”
31.08.03 East Rutherford, NJ, middle of ´Glory Days´
´´Come on, Steve....we gotta take this thing home now....time to
go....we gotta leave New Jersey now, baby....(?)....
(....) Are you ready ? (cheers) are you really ready ? (cheers) are you really
ready ? (cheers) what time is it ? (crowd: ´Boss-time´)....”
31.08.03 East Rutherford, NJ, intro to ´My City of Ruins´
´´Thanks, I wanna thank everybody for coming out to the show tonight....I
wanna thank all the folks that´ve been here, I know there´s a bunch
of you been here more than once and uh ....I just wanna say that playing here
at home is always a big thrill for us, we thank you for your support and for
all the good times and we´ll do it again sometime.....also I wanna thank,
I know there´s folks who´ve come from long ways, come overseas to
see the shows.....I know we got some folks from Holland tonight and some folks
from Italy (?) come over and supported us and we appreciate all that....I wanna
send this out tonight for, uh, folks with the Community Foodbank who we been
working with every night since we been here and they´re....they´re
out there helping the struggling citizens, folks who gotta choose between paying
for food or paying their rent, 40 percent of the people they service are kids,
they can use your donation of your time, it´s good for the soul, or, uh,
your support in any fashion, they´re out, they´re on the boardwalk
tonight and as usual I wanna send this out for the folks from the Community
Foodbank of New Jersey and we thank them and we thank you for supporting them....”
31.08.03 East Rutherford, NJ, intro to ´Land of Hope and Dreams´
´´Thank you, once again I wanna thank everybody for coming out tonight.....this
is where I make my short public service announcement, we get people of all different
kinds of political beliefs that come out to our show and I like that and we
all like it, we welcome everybody ....there´s been a lot of questions
raised recently about the forthrightness of the government as far as our entry
into the war in Iraq, just wanted to say that playing with the truth´s
been a part of both Democratic and Republican administrations in the past during
wartime and it´s always wrong when the lives of our sons and daughters
are on the line....I think the question of whether we were misled into Iraq
isn´t a Liberal or a Conservative question, it´s an American question,
protecting the democracy that we ask our sons and our daughters to die for is
our sacred trust, as is demanding accountability from our leaders, it´s
our job as citizens, it´s a good time to be vili, vigilant out there….that´s
the American way....if you wanna see that said a whole lot funnier, you can
get Al Franken’s book Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them (chuckles)
this is ´Land of Hope and Dreams´, come on….”
31.08.03 East Rutherford, NJ, intro to ´Rosalita´
´´Oh, is she out there ?....is she out there ?....hey, Rosie, won´t
you (crowd: ´Come out tonight´)....”
